This is my third attempt at doing a blog... The other two blogs, whose names I can't remember, never ever posted a blog! I tweeted instead. I actually really like tweeting. What I really like is all those quick links to interesting things to read or see. What I actually really, really like is reading.
Since returning from a 6 month trip, which included Nepal, India, Sri Lanka, Indonesia and Australia, with my 11 year old in 2009 I have desperately wanted to stop teaching, to travel, and think of a less stressful way to earn a living. I taught my last ever, ever lesson on 26th January this year.
1K happened in November 2014, but luckily the school phoned, needed supply and I could procrastinate some more. I taught until the end of January this year, went to India and then I started @atravellingc twitter account and opened this web page on the 17th March 2015.
My 17 year old daughter, No.5, gave me the name for this blog - A Travelling Circus and I was off... Not. I had one article, written awhile back... I haven't written anything. I've lots of word documents with splendid titles, but nothing is finished.
So I registered another human rights website @weebly, thinking it's the subject matter, and ... NOTHING! Not one article.
So I did some research, 'sound background knowledge' I said to my husband. I've read and read, and then read a little more and twittered.
Following some advice from a few tweeps, I personally liked @JonMorrow @MrScottEddy @MarcGuberti, my following @atravellinc is now, 22 days later just over 800... I have to write at 1k this time, I promised. What though? Any ideas?
Any advice, ideas welcome, I am really here, not spam or whatever (I'm bandying that word around like I know what it is...). I would appreciate comments and feedback and will get back to you.
Although the financial pressure has slightly receded due to our nest becoming more and more empty, only two out of five at home now, my husband would still like to see some return for his years of patience and footing the bills! I also like to have my own money even though it pours through my fingers like sand!
I have been PROCRASTINATING in a massive way. I promised my husband that when I reached 1K followers on my first twitter account @heidiEcampbell5 - mostly about #HumanRights, #News, #Religion - that I would write something. (This took 1 year and I didn't know what a hashtag even was to start!!)
Have a quick look... I found them useful. Blogging and Tweeting seems to be a massively abundant field. The advice on blogging even more so. I've been reading around, a lot! One young man who seems to give some fairly sound advice is @MarcGuberti . He's young, only 16 but lots of free advice, easy to follow and my kids always know more about social media and techy stuff than I do! @JonMorrow is blunt and to the point. I like that. And @MrScottyEddy seems to give sound advice, with good manners too.
